TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Chris Murphy

SCENE: Murphy’s just outside the underground trams running between Senate Office Buildings and the US Capitol.

Matt Laslo: “Hey, senator. Are you still supportive of the SAFER Banking Act?”

Chris Murphy: “The marijuana banking act?”

ML: “Yeah.”

CM: “Yes.”

ML: “What do you think — did you see that today, Gov. Wes Moore in Maryland, wiping the slates, you know, pardoning thousands of people? Would you be supportive of something like that?”

CM: “On the federal level?”

ML: “Yeah. It’s wouldn’t affect a ton, but Biden has been doing some pardons but some people say he could go further.”

CM: “I don’t know. I’d have to look it through.”

ML: “Yeah? Okay. Thank you.”
