Ask a Pol asks:

What do you make of Rep. Eric Burlison’s comments after the AARO [All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office] SCIF briefing — that his skepticism was kinda confirmed and they kind of convinced him that they’ve disproven that there are hidden SAPs or Special Access Program?

ICYMI — Ask a Pol’s exclusive w/ Rep. Eric Burlison

Key Ogles:

“That's the issue with SAPs, they are so compartmentalized that if you ask about a particular SAP, not only do you have to find the right one but you have to ask the right question. So you could literally find a bed of rocks that has the jewel that you're looking for, but if you don't turn over the right rock,” Rep. Andy Ogles tells Ask a Pol while motioning about the lost metaphorical rock. “The jewel's right there in front of you. And so that would be my pushback. And I think we need more digging, more investigation.”

Follow-up:

It also begs the question of whether all the other agencies are being honest with AARO? AARO’s the new kid on the block, so they can easily hide stuff from them — or do you think they have access?

“I'm not going to allege that anyone is intentionally hiding, but by the way they're structured — they're structured to protect national security, ergo, hide things,” Ogles tells us.

TRANSCRIPT: Rep. Andy Ogles

SCENERep. Andy Ogles is heading to cast a vote on the House floor.

Matt Laslo: “Did you see Burlison’s comments after the SCIF?”

Andy Ogles: “No, I didn’t. What did he say?”

ML: “He said, inside there, his skepticism was kinda confirmed — that they kind of convinced him that they’ve done good research, and, yeah, kind of disproven that there are hidden SAPs.”

AO: “Well, that's the issue with SAPs, they are so compartmentalized that, again, you know, if you ask about a particular SAP, not only do you have to find the right one but you have to ask the right question. So you could literally find a bed of rocks that has the jewel that you're looking for, but if you don't turn over the right rock.”

Ogles motions as if he can’t find said metaphorical rock.

AO: “The jewel's right there in front of you. And so that would be my pushback. And I think we need more digging, more investigation. I think there should be a select committee.”

ML: “Yeah. Well it also begs the question of whether all the other agencies are being honest with AARO? AARO’s the new kid on the block, so they can easily hide stuff from them — or do you think they have access?”

Ogles chuckles.

AO: “I'm not going to allege that anyone is intentionally hiding, but by the way they're structured, they're structured to protect national security, ergo, hide things.”

Ogles laughs.

ML: “Yeah, right? Preciate ya.”
