SCENE: Laslo’s tucked under the shade of the US Capitol when he bumps into a rushed Rep. Chuy Garcia’s who’s due to vote on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Background: The only topic the two regularly discuss is cannabis, and recently — as you can hear for yourself below — Laslo’s been pushing lawmakers on whether the DEA was going to reschedule cannabis or not.
Matt Laslo: “How you doin’ boss?”
Chuy Garcia: “You had it right. You had it right. You had it right.”
Laslo laughs.
ML: “How you feeling?”
CG: “Good, good. Very good.”
ML: “You feeling good? Yes, sir.”
Garcia heads towards the entrance to the Capitol.
ML: “Have a good one.”

Matt Laslo: “Do you think we're gonna see any movement on cannabis, any of these issues? Like, Republicans, they used to have that libertarian streak. Do you have any allies on that side?”
Chuy Garcia: “I don't know, beyond [Rep. Thomas] Massie, maybe?”
Rep. Garcia laughs.
ML: “Yeah. They've changed a lot, cause now it's a social issue to them?”
CG: “Yeah, yeah, it’s crazy. Don't know.”
ML: “But there's not really a lot of discussions on it?”
CG: “Maybe when we get beyond these [foreign aid] bills the air will clear a little bit.”
ML: “Cause if unintended — well, cause it is broadly bipartisan.”
CG: “Yeah, yeah. So I certainly — I would renew a push for it.”
ML: “Yeah?”
CG: “Yeah.”
ML: “You talking to the White House at all about it?”
CG: “Not yet. I'm trying to get some other stuff out of them.”
ML: “Yeah. Preciate ya.”
